We Don’t Waste works to reduce hunger and food waste in the Denver area by recovering quality, unused food from the food industry and delivering it to nonprofit partners, such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools and daycare programs, and more. The Salah Foundation provided funding to build their new headquarters.
We Don’t Waste believes that food should go to people, not landfills, and be accessible to all. They recover surplus food from the food industry and distribute it to over 100 nonprofit partners, as well as directly to communities in food deserts through no-cost Mobile Food Markets. With the generous support of The Salah Foundation, We Don’t Waste successfully moved into a new 30,000 square foot facility and activated additional trucks. This expansion allows them to partner with more food donors and distribute even more food where it’s needed most.

A major feature of the new space is a commercial kitchen, also funded by The Salah Foundation, which enables the team to break down bulk food items for easier distribution, prepare ready-to-eat meals that extend shelf life, and host enriching hands-on classes and field trips. These programs teach students how to cook creatively, store food more effectively, and develop skills that help reduce waste and save money at home.

The new kitchen completes the Food Recovery Hub, transforming it into a vibrant center for food access and nutrition education in the Denver area. As one Mobile Food Market participant, Manuela, put it, “Good food is your source of energy. It takes you through the day. It is so important.”
