United Way Broward County, with support from The Salah Foundation, is expanding Project Lifeline to meet a sharp rise in food insecurity across the region. The initiative now distributes roughly 85,000 pounds of nutritious food each month through 30 partner pantries and rapid-response Pop-Up distributions. This investment ensures families, seniors, and veterans have dependable access to healthy food during a period of heightened need.

United Way Broward’s mission is to mobilize our community, so everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Guided by our founding spirit, we respond wherever there is need—listening to our neighbors, acting quickly and using our countywide reach to deliver meaningful solutions.
Thanks to the generous support of The Salah Foundation, Project Lifeline—United Way Broward’s countywide food-access initiative—continues to ensure that children, seniors, veterans and families have reliable access to fresh, nutritious food. This funding strengthens our partnerships with 30 local pantries and community organizations, enabling large-scale distributions that reach households facing hunger and economic hardship.
The impact is both measurable and deeply human. In recent months, United Way Broward has distributed an average of 85,000 pounds of food per month, including fresh produce, proteins, dairy and shelf-stable items. The rising need is evident—since September 2025 we have distributed over 320,00 pounds of food. Since the government shutdown on October 30, 2025, we have doubled weekly deliveries to our pantries and launched “Pop-Up” Food Distributions for anyone affected. Participation grew from 300 households in week one to more than 500 in our fourth week.
Behind every box of food is a family with a story. Parents share that these distributions help them bridge the gap between paychecks; seniors’ express relief at receiving healthy food within fixed incomes. One mother told us, “This food means my kids will have real meals this week. It takes a huge weight off my shoulders.”
With the continued support of The Salah Foundation, United Way Broward is expanding Project Lifeline to reach more neighborhoods, support more partners and ensure no family is left behind. Together, we are feeding families today and building a healthier, stronger Broward County for tomorrow.
