Nourishing Rural Maine Families With Community and Compassion
On a cold frosty morning in the great north woods of Maine, tucked away in the small town of Burlington is the sound of laughter and chatter of many helping hands. They are preparing to deliver healthy nutritious food to over 500 families, which they do twice a week. With the help of over 50 volunteers with countless hours, this is a drive-through model pantry that is making a difference in the neighboring, largely rural, communities. What goes out to them is healthy nutritious food. What we get back from them is gratefulness with a big smile! Thanks to the support and funding from grants like The Salah Foundation, private donations and fund raising this have made our goal possible. We could not accomplish this without our partners.
Supporting Survivors Through Specialized, No-Cost Therapy
The Victim Service Center of Central Florida provides individualized services and resources to victims of sexual assault, violent crime, and traumatic circumstances, through crisis response, advocacy, therapy, education, and community awareness. Thanks to the Salah Foundation, we can continue supporting survivors with free therapy. Our licensed therapists provide trauma-specialized care through individual sessions, support groups, and group therapy processing. Each client gets an individualized treatment plan tailored to help reduce trauma symptoms, increase vitality and post-traumatic growth, and live a life beyond victimization. From a therapy client: “VSC has changed my life. EMDR can be daunting and their therapists provide the safety and support needed to make the jump in healing with all the tools available to us. I will never forget my time at VSC, for they provided me with skills I will use the rest of my life.” The Victim Service Center remains dedicated to supporting survivors in their healing journeys. With Salah Foundation’s funding, we can ensure many more individuals can access the care and support they need.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Project: Local Support That Lasts All Year
“The Peanut Butter & Jelly Project (PB&J Project) is a grassroots organization dedicated to uplifting and supporting underserved children and families in South Florida through year-round support and community-driven outreach. With your help, this grant powered our 9th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway, where we provided 2,000 backpacks filled with supplies, along with free haircuts, hair braiding, and hot meals for children in need. These simple yet meaningful gestures help build confidence and equip students with the tools they need for a successful school year. Any leftover supplies are donated to teachers to help ease the financial burden they often carry throughout the year. Since 2016, we’ve also led an annual Thanksgiving Drive, delivering thousands of meals—including 2,000 turkeys in 2024 alone—to families who might otherwise go without. This funding strengthens our ability to expand both of these vital programs and deepen our impact across Broward County.””
Academic Recovery for Teens with Brain and Spinal Injuries at Craig Hospital
“Each year, in the United States alone, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for a traumatic brain injury, and over 18,000 sustain a spinal cord injury. Craig Hospital, located in Englewood, CO, is a national leader in spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation, taking on the most complex cases and delivering extraordinary outcomes. The Salah Foundation is generously supporting Craig’s School Program, which helps teens continue their education during their rehabilitation programs. Through customized curricula, one-on-one tutoring, and transition plans for returning to school, the School Program teachers play a powerful role in each teen’s recovery and future success. In the words of one recent grad’s mother, “To be around kids his own age who are going through similar injuries was invaluable to him. Seeing kids progress and improve was an incentive for him to keep pushing. It showed him he was not alone and things really do get better.””

MANNA FoodBank: Delivering Relief to Families in Western North Carolina
“MANNA FoodBank’s vision is to end hunger in Western North Carolina. Thanks to the Salah Foundation, we can purchase food for distribution through our MANNA Community Markets (MCM). Our MCM Manager, Bethany Vance, shares the story of two senior sisters living on a fixed income when we asked about the impact of this funding. One sister, battling cancer, drives their shared car. Their struggles worsened when Hurricane Helene damaged their home, leaving a hole in the roof that remains unrepaired. Despite these challenges, they express gratitude at every MCM visit, saying, “We don’t know what we would do without this market.” With medical bills, home repairs, and daily financial struggles, the Salah Foundation ensures food is one less worry for them.”
United Ways in Western North Carolina Help Rebuild Lives After Hurricane Helene
United Way of Alamance County connects people, local United Ways, and resources to help communities thrive across North Carolina. This grant supported Hurricane Helene relief in Western North Carolina, with funds directed to United Way of Burke County, United Way of Haywood County, and High Country United Way. These regions faced severe destruction and are still working toward long-term recovery. In Haywood County, retired public servant Robin lost her childhood home—lovingly restored—when floodwaters rose unexpectedly. She escaped with only her purse. With help from Baptists on Mission and United Way of Haywood County, her home was cleaned, repaired, and refurnished. “Things will never be exactly the same,” she said, “but I have a comfortable home again.” This grant allows us to continue helping families like Robin’s rebuild not just homes—but lives—with dignity and hope.

Thanks to the Salah Foundation’s generous support, we are able to respond swiftly to help animals across our community affected by the devastating Eaton Fire, animals like Skinny Minnie, a sweet gray cat found covered in burns and ash. Skinny Minnie spent months recovering in our ICU, her gentle spirit inspiring everyone who met her. This funding ensures animals facing emergencies receive lifesaving care and strengthens our capacity to provide hope, healing, and second chances, no matter what challenges tomorrow may bring.”

The Salah Foundation’s generous support helps us grow our Watch Stander program throughout South Florida. According to a University of Kentucky study, 135 people are affected by every suicide. That means that since we launched our programs in 2019, there are 16,600 fewer Northeast Florida community members mourning the loss of a Veteran friend, colleague, or loved one. Through the support of The Salah Foundation, we hope to bring the same relief to the South Florida community.” – Nick Howland, Executive Director

Sterilization also reduced mating, marking, and roaming behaviors — creating safer, more relaxed home environments.
