Over the past several years, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s physician, scientist have focused on the use of a novel imaging strategy known as swept source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) to study disease progression in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), both the dry (non-exudative) and wet (exudative) forms of the disease.
With the Salah Foundation’s funding, Dr. Rosenfeld and his Team at Bascom Palmer have been able to identify a new way to treat age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Rosenfeld’s Team, as a result of this new methodology, started a much larger study to image and follows all patients who are ungergoing carotid artery surgery and measuring the blood flow in the artery.
The Salah Foundation is further assisting Dr. Rosenfeld by funding additional SS-OCTA equipment to expand the exciting research and results.
